Penguins Pond Offering Public Skating!

“Penguins Pond at SouthSide Works” is your destination for holiday public skating.   Beginning on Thursday, Dec. 22 at 11 a.m., the unique outdoor community ice rink will host daily public skating sessions through Jan. 2 – including Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.   The rink – a legacy of last year’s NHL Winter Classic – is located at the intersection of 26th and Sidney Streets in the SouthSide Works complex. This annual holiday light show is one of the nation’s largest, covering more than 300 acres over a six-mile drive throughout the resort.The Winter Festival of Lights was listed as one of the 10 Best Christmas Light Displays in the US according to AOL Travel. Hartwood Park Christmas Lights!

Hartwood Acres is an Allegheny County Park consisting of 629 acres. Preserved within the park is one of the largest and most spectacular country estates in the region. Hartwood consists of a stately Tudor Mansion (erected in 1929) cottage, stable complex and gate lodge (erected in 1927).
